1 Epson recommend that you use genuine Epson cartridges. The use of other products may affect your print quality and could result in printer damage. Yields vary considerably based on images printed, print settings, paper type, frequency of use and temperature. For print quality, a variable amount of ink remains in the cartridge after the “Replace cartridge” indicator comes on. 16-bit drivers now available on the Epson Stylus Photo R1900 & Epson Stylus Photo R2880
Epson Australia is pleased to announce the availability of 16 bit drivers on the Epson Stylus Photo R1900 & Epson Stylus Photo R2880.
Epson 16-bit printer drivers gives the printer the ability to work in an entirely 16-bit workflow on Apple ® Macintosh ® OS X operating systems. This highly precise driver technology overcomes previous driver limitations and enables extremely accurate transitions and gradations in the final prints.
With 16 bit processing more information is preserved as 16 bit traces the original image data with higher frequency than 8 bit processing. As a result, 16 bit images can now be faithfully reproduced from Adobe Photoshop CS3, delivering smoother gradations and greater image detail.
The 8 bit diagram shows the original information in the red line and the 8 bit rendering of the data by the printer driver to match the original information. Compared to the 16 bit diagram you can see that 16 bit allows a more accurate matching of the original data. The 16 bit processing means there are more steps from one extreme to the other (for example from black to white or from low to high saturation of a given colour) so there are more points at which the original data can be precisely matched.
