Digital Reviews - Updated 2008
Important note on reviews.
When you read a review in a magazine keep in mind the testers may review similar products once or twice a year.
Most reviews we've seen have procedural, factual, or errors of ommission that only people who use and test projectors etc. every day (take us for example!) would know about . It could be as simple as using a particular input can cause problems, had you known that in advance you may not have purchased it.
An example we'll never forget (a few years ago) was a review on scanners where the main test was scanning the front page of that months computer magazine.
Moiré pattern as seen by a powerful scanner...
Click to learn all about scanning at scantips.com
The better scanners pick up a interference pattern known as a moiré pattern, (see above) because the printing is made up of dots that form rosettes and the scanner scans in dots that don't match (simple version).
The cheap scanner looked better..
The outcome was the poor scanners looked best superficially and won the review (see above). The cheap models weren't accurate enough to capture the pattern which could have given the scanner enough data to work wonders, the better scanners looked worse (because de-screening options were not used) and had "this awful pattern in them" which is why the review completely the wrong way around, having the power to discern the pattern was the key, to unlock the power and get a first class scan you needed to know where the lock was!
What could have been if you knew what you were doing!
Scanned using de-screen function!
Had the reviewer used scanners all day as we do, he would have known about "de-screening".
When de-screening was selected (at the correct LPI) the scanned image looked like a photograph, (see above) and sometimes even better than the original.
The lesson is average out a few reviews.

HCC PROJECTOR REVIEWS HERE
Hello:
After searching the internet somewhat vigorously, I have come to the conclusion that your site is the only one which actually offers an opinion, rather than a regurgitation of the manufacturer's press release, or web page.
This includes magazine web site "reviews" and articles. I find your propensity to "come to a conclusion", positive or negative, regarding to a model's performance or aptitude surprisingly unique and refreshing.

Pigment vs dye based inks
But from there on, the 2100 and the 950 take different paths. The 2100 is a pigment ink printer, while the 950 is a dye-based printer. The out-going 2000P covered the entry-level for Epsons professional archival quality ink-jet printing range that goes all the way up to the massive Stylus Pro 10000 poster printer.
